July at The French Needle
Summer arrived here in Maryland with a heat wave. I can usually stand to garden outside in June, but that is not the case this year, it is just too hot! Well, all the more time to stitch and listen to books on CD...
I have some fun things for you this month. There is a new company called Les Brodeuses Parisiennes (started by the lady who used to edit le fil en aiguille magazine). She designs elegant accessories for embellishment. They are made start to finish in France by artisans and the products are exquisitely finished. Look in "prefinished items" to find the Brodeuses Parisiennes products.
And I know books are always favorites. I found another one by Kazuko Aioki in the Danish tradition it is lovely florals. Also, there is a quite interesting counted thread book, my first of this kind, also in Japanese. It looks so tempting I might branch out and try some! Finally, a new book called Blutentanz by Christiane Dahlbeck. It translates as "flower dance" and indeed you could satisfy your green thumb indoors with this one!
Thanks again to the hospitable group at the Loundon County Virginia Guild for a warm reception at their function in June.
And if any of you get Victoria Magazine, The French Needle is featured in the July/August issue. I was not aware that an article could create such an avalanche, but it has and please know that I am working diligently to catch up with questions and orders. Some of the items in the article are on backorder but will be arriving shortly.
Wishing you all safe and restful vacation time and as ever I look forward to hearing from you.
Amicalement,
Lisa
